PROFILE OF THE DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE
Estd: 1988
Department of Commerce was started in July 1988 with Higher Secondary classes. Dr. Jyotish Bordoloi & Dr. Durlabh Baruah were the founding teachers of the Department. Dr. Jyotish Bordoloi was the Head of the Department from July 1988 to 31st December 2021 and from January 2022 to 28th February 2023, Mr Madan Chandra Bakali had taken the charge of Head of the Department. At present, Dr. Amalendu Choudhury is the Head of the Department. B.Com General Course started from the session 1993- 94 and B.Com Honours Course with Accountancy and Finance from 1994 and Business Management from 2006. Now Four four-year undergraduate Courses were started from the session 2023 -24. Presently, out of 10(Ten) sanctioned posts, 05(Five) posts are lying vacant and 04 (Four) Tutor Assistant teachers are working from February 2021 onwards. A Computer Laboratory is for the practical class in E-Commerce, Business Statistics and Computer Application in Business for Commerce students. The department is also equipped with ICT Smart class that enables the teachers & students to better teaching and learning. The library facility is available in the Department. There are 400 books available in the Departmental Library. There are five classrooms in the department equipped with 03 LCD Projectors and 02 Smart Boards.

ACHIEVEMENT OF THE DEPARTMENT:
a) In the year 2008, Dima Hasao District stood 2nd in terms of pass percentage in H.S. result in Commerce declared by the AHSEC, Assam.
b) The family members of the founder father of college introduced N.L.Daulagupu Best student award for securing highest marks in TDC final Exam of Assam University.
