The Physics Department, along with other departments of the Science stream was established in the year 1969. That year Pre-University classes in the science stream was started. Ashutosh Paul was the founder teacher of the Physics Department. B.Sc. course in Physics was introduced in the year 1979. The Department has a spacious laboratory with modern equipments for conducting practical classes. The department also boasts of a computer laboratory for conducting computational classes and students' project work. The department has five faculty members who are actively engaged in teaching and part-time research. The department also has two non-teaching staff for assistance in practical classes and administrative work.
