The Department of Zoology was started in Haflong Govt College since inception of Science stream in July, 1969 and Late Md. Kashem Mandal was appointed as the first lecturer of this Department. The Department boasts of highest numbers of students with Honours (Major) in Zoology among the other science Departments. The department also has the highest number of N.L. Daulagupu best student awardee for scoring highest CGPA in the College. There are currently 4 faculty members specialized in their own fields with publications in both national and international journals. Some of the faculty members have also published books and book chapters from the syllabus and other diverse topics.
Vision
The Department envisions empowering the students through quality education in Zoology and related areas by combining theoretical knowledge and practical skills in a holistic manner.
Mission
The Mission of the Department of Zoology is to impart education to graduates in Zoology so as to deck out them to encourage the spirit of enquiry, creativity, intellectual capacity, and research in Zoology; to interpret the ecosphere around to local communities and students
